THE FIGHT FOR TRUTH

Good Day to you!

This morning, I read a great little essay Vidya shared with me titled, The Fight For Truth, by John Smythies. You can find it in the journal titled: Journal of Scientific Exploration, Vol. 22, No. 1, pp.117-119, 2008.

The essay makes excellent points regarding the scientific paradigm of our day, pointing out that much of what is believed to be “science” is really an example of dogmatism.

Smythies gives the example of how parapsychologists are scorned as pseudo-scientists by scientists, yet, at large, such scientists have neither a knowledge of psychology, nor para-psychology. He exemplifies that what people refer to as science in general is based largely on apriori (prior) knowledge or ideas, yet there is little indication of advance, or openness to new ideas, particularly those presented from outside their own (tight) professional circles.

Even though there are excellent, high-caliber scientists working in and producing groundbreaking research in many fields, it is the “old guard” that continually marginalize the scientific paradigm in most fields of scientific investigation.

One of the examples Smythies gives is that the traditional mindset is such that consciousness is the product of brain-chemistry interactions; consciousness is the product of brains and nothing else.

In reaction to such limiting and narrow-minded beliefs, other equally qualified scientists and pioneers such as Deepak Chopra and Amit Goswami have posted many challenging, yet often ignored viewpoints.

For example, Amit Goswami is a theoretical nuclear physicist and member of The University of Oregon Institute for Theoretical Physics since 1968, teaching physics for 32 years posts the following question:

“If brains are the only source of consciousness, shouldn’t we be asking what created brains?”

Brains, of any type in the biological tree of evolution are a very recent development compared to the rest of nature at large. If one believes that consciousness only exists in brains and internal biochemistry, one is ignoring a much larger, more important question.

What created the universe, which is obviously highly organized, so organized that statistical analysis legitimately rules out random chance.

Speaking of the same sort of scientific dogmatism, I saw a documentary looking at the issues of the origins of the universe where a prominent physicist (I can’t recall his name) was interviewed regarding the issue of the big bang.

He stated very clearly that most university astronomy programs are funded by Christian money and stated that any proposed research project that may show findings that go against Bible cosmology are denied.

He stated that according to his research and that of others on the cutting edge of astronomy, the big bang theory is only about 3% accurate, yet is held onto as a dogma, slowing the entire field of astronomy down.

Anyone who may not agree with such a statement need only look into the current science regarding the life and death of stars in relationship to what are now referred to as black holes and white holes; the explosion of a star creates a black hole which compresses light and matter to the point of ignition, creating the birth of a new star.

Current investigations in a number of paralleling fields of investigation have mounted undeniable evidence that the cosmos functions on what is now termed a continuous bang reality. This essentially means that with regard to our views of linear space-time, there was no beginning and there is no end in sight either.

Smythies essay refers to the dogma presented by Richard Dawkins, referencing his recent book, The God Delusion.

He says, “For example, Dawkins states that he knows that this life is the only life we have. How could he possibly know that?”

In my own life as a teacher of health and healing, I’ve had countless students attend my courses who wouldn’t participate in blocks of training where I was teaching how chanting, toning, musical instruments and a variety of energy healing techniques can be used because they thought it was unscientific nonsense.

Yet, in many instances, right before their eyes, I was able to identify where they’d experienced past injuries, as well as emotional and mental challenges in their life and alleviate their pain, with no prior information what-so-ever; they chose to ignore that even after several such demonstrations!

Some of them have been brave enough, and wise enough to ask me for scientific references so they could better understand the basis of the approach I teach.

I’m always happy to provide them because today, there is tremendous excellent scientific backing for what was once thought to be esoteric methodology. I would guess that only 50% of such students will even look at the research I suggest.

The ones that do, in my experience, have all become more open to using the methods I was sharing in class. Some of them are so moved at what they find that they begin practicing them openly.

The results they get have been so profound that they often realize that they have been caught in the marginalized mindset of the average mind that is too afraid to trust their own feelings and intuition.

I find this quite amazing to watch, particularly when a study of the greatest minds in science, such as Einstein, Tesla, Feynman and many others have all used their intuition as a means of thinking outside the box. As most of you well know, such great pioneers are often violently opposed by dogmatic peers, until the evidence is so convincing that if they don’t shift their viewpoint, they will fall so behind as to become fossils in their field.

Einstein once said, “Great minds will always meet violent resistance from mediocre minds.” He was bang on.

I share this commentary with you today in hopes that you will all be brave enough to ask bigger questions than those of the consensus reality, particularly when you consider that the mass of people making up the consensus reality are very unhealthy people that by no means constitute leaders, pioneers, or change makers in most any field.

Having studied the biographies of about 150 of the worlds greatest thinkers, I can assure you that almost all of them lived hellish lives as they made what were often very great advances due to the punishment delivered by those who’s ideas are merely a parroting of other ideas that are often both outdated and comparatively ineffective.

A couple years ago, I interviewed my friend and client Laird Hamilton, thought by many to be the best surfer in history to date. In my interview, I asked Laird what he thought “God” was. Laird said, “the truth.”

I then asked Laird, “How do you know what the truth is?” Laird beautifully stated, “Because the truth is always what works!”

I think that is an excellent viewpoint. If we look at the world we are living in now, almost every product, food and medical drug that has been linked to the cause of disease and even death has been proven effective by science.

But, is such proof actually “true” when the outcome of such proven methods are disease, death, and the literal destruction of nature, cultures, societies, families and the individual at large? It has been said that scientists are the prostitutes of the modern era.

I can’t agree more.

It is important for all of us to remember that exploration typically precedes (scientific) understanding. If we wait for science to prove everything before we are brave enough to find solutions to the very real problems facing humanity today, we will be dangerously fating ourselves, for as Einstein once said, “you can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it.”

I say, “explore, experience, take notes, share, look for patterns, assess probability and consistency, and then let the scientists try to figure out what you already know from experience.”

There are now literally thousands of people that were left for dead by the medical community that had no choice but to pioneer their own healing.

Many of our greatest opportunities for advance in the healing sciences came by way of sick doctors and therapists that had to pioneer their own healing. Even when they have found legitimate, effective methods for their own healing that have worked with many others, science, the medical and drug cartels often shut them down, stopping them from sharing their findings.

So you see, dogma is not just limited to any one field of endeavor, it’s a social disease.

If you want to find the roots of that disease, I suggest you look into the history of science and religion. I’ll leave that to you. I’ve already done that.

Sadly, what we think of as religion, as you’ve heard me say many times before, isn’t actually religion. Religion is just the bait used as a systematized means of mind control.

The problem is, promises of heaven, milk, honey and virgins in the afterlife seem to be just the bait needed to exterminate the natural rational faculty inherent in a normally developed child’s mind. Thus, the saying of the Christian missionaries, “if you give me a child, I’ll give you a preacher”!

Enough said.

WHO AM I?

I case you can’t read my poem off the image, it says:
Who Am I
Arms & legs
Forever
Wrapped around
Breathing
Seeing
Tasting
Living!
You?

Who Am I
When your Heart
“EXPLODES!”

Through your eyes
Your arms
Your mouth
Your face?

Who will I be
If you forget how
to get back to this place?

Can you follow
My animals
to THE WATER
WHOLE?

RUMI SPEAKS
Soul’s army came from the land of heart,
Oblivious that at the same time
A concealed army came.

The ones who tear dresses came from the soul’s road.
They tear the clothes of my patients.

Soul’s brides threw their dresses with veils
And started searching for the sultan of earth.

They came like a beautiful torrent
From the land of absence to the land of presence.

The shape of heart broke all the shapes.
The ones behind the curtain came to conquer the land.

The ones open were concealed.
The secret ones came openly.

The one who has a sign or trace becomes traceless.
The one who doesn’t gained sign and trace.

If you are wondering what this poem is saying, it is essentially Rumi’s address to the dangerous perils of pseudo-religion!
