Have you ever shopped for a new TV and felt overwhelmed by the walls of mounted TVs looking at all of the life playing out all of the screens? It’s impossible for anyone to focus on any one screen!

Envision this as a metaphor on a broader stage: Attempting to channel the thoughts and feelings of every person on the planet at any given minute through the ego.

Your Mind Can Only Handle 3-5 Percent of Reality

Trying to channel anything like that would feel like being struck by lightning and create a schizophrenic situation for your ego attempting to absorb all those sounds, sights and feelings and cause total chaos. No wonder, the average human can handle 3-5 percent of reality!

Now, imagine the ego as a periscope of your psyche, and the unconscious as the ocean and your submarine is your subconscious floating in it. As you develop your spiritual practice, the size of the/your periscope expands.

In my video, I talk about the two paths to enlightenment — Positiva (growing awareness through deep study) and Negativa (emptying your mind) — to greater enlightenment and how both can help you grow the size of your periscope and reality.

Love and chi,

Paul
