Calming Your Racing Mind

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying life!

I was busy, and sadly, one of my best friends passed away this weekend, so I was spending a little time with his family to support them in the process.

When the time is right, I’ll share a tribute to this very special person.

What I can share now is that when you loose someone who has had a significant impact on your life, and who was a loving, generous person, it impacts you deeply; you are brought into an exquisite appreciation of the beauty of life and all the special relationships we have.

Loosing my friend this weekend really made me miss my Grandma and Grandpa, two of the most amazing souls to ever touch my soul. They were able to shape my perceptions of the world without force, and always with an open mind.

They are my firm anchor in the belief that much of the challenges children face in the world today is due to “a loss of the elders,” the wise ones.

Today, even grandparents are “too busy” for much contact with grandchildren, and are often not rooted in a healthy mythology; this often only leads to more conditional love for children, usually reinforcing parental imbalances in stead of rectifying them.

Grandma and Grandpa Reynolds
Above is one of the few photos I have of my much-cherished Grandma and Grandpa Reynolds. They were Guardian Angels in my life as a young boy.

My Grandfather’s hobby was the study of nutrition, and even as a little boy he was teaching me things I had no idea would one day be of meaning to me.

For example, he use to tell me, “Paul, people are going to tell you to take the yolk out of the egg and only eat the white because they are afraid of the fat in the yolk. Don’t let them fool you, an egg is one of the most balanced, best foods you can eat – eat the whole egg!”

Sure enough, I would hear people say to take the yolk out a thousand times…but I knew better!

My Grandma had healing touch. I had asthma when I was young, and my Grandmother’s touch was more powerful than any medicine. Her love was radiant, and completely non-judgmental. I felt as though I were in the arms of an angel; you can see me in her left arm above.

If you get a chance to love someone simply because we all need love, you will have the joy of knowing you loved them. When we realize how much we loved someone after they are gone, it can be very painful.

In the rest of my blog today, I will share:

Calming Your Racing Mind

Many people today are challenged by their racing mind…incessant thinking, fretting, worrying, fearing this and fearing that…analyzing… “Am I good enough, am I beautiful enough, am I smart enough”… “He said…, She said…” and on and on…

Racing Mind Challenges blk bd

This problem is not new, so don’t feel bad if you feel you are also challenged by a racing mind. Sages, mystics, philosophers and saints have been teaching methods for calming the mind for thousands of years.

You’d think that will all the advancements in technology that by now, we’d have learned to manage our “black boxes”… We haven’t.

Oddly, we design electrical devices, such as computers to “shut off and re-start” if they get overloaded, but we seldom take the time to do it for ourselves.

In my video blog (vlog) today, I explain how the energy/information centers of the brain, heart, and solar plexus all work together to provide our conscious sense of self.

While the brain is the home of “intellect”, and the ego there centered acts as the executor, the heart offers feeling and intuition and the solar plexus (gut) offers instincts and body wisdom.

I explain the importance of each of these centers for effective processing of, and integration of our thoughts. If we, as so many today do, process our thought-experiences only at the level of the head, there is a real tendency to miss vital information.

This leads to making decisions based on partial information, and often results in a progressive string of disempowering judgments or denials.

To help you better understand how the creative polarities (that create life-force itself) express themselves in our thinking and our bodies, I summarize the yin and yang influences of thinking.

I explain that the brain is a very energy hungry organ, and physiologists say that the brain uses about 80% of the available blood sugar any time we are cognitively engaged.

Those that have “run away minds” can easily exhaust their body of both energy and resources, leaving support for the rest of the body.

TIPS:

1. Dream = compass: Here I explain the importance, and function of having a dream and dream affirmative core values.

I show how the 4 Doctor system explains what “free energy” we have available to us as a citizen of the cosmos, and how Dr. Happiness chooses what to consume at each level of our being; the mind feeds on thoughts, the heart (and emotional body) feeds on emotions, and the physical body feeds on water and food.

2. Values = Yes/No: When we have a clearly defined dream for ourselves, and core values to support our dream (learn to create your own core values in my multimedia ebook, The Last 4 Doctors), we know when to say “yes” and when to say “no”.

This is critical when it comes to learning to manage a racing mind because much of what is “racing through our minds” ends up being disharmonious relative to our dream and values.

Therefore, we can use our core values system as a nice “screening tool”, allowing us to easily determine what to, and what not to energize.

3. Choices:
– Dream Affirmative
– PainTeacher

In this section of my vlog, I teach you how to use the negative thoughts and mind chatter as an opportunity to effectively reprogram yourself so that your thoughts, words, and deeds are dream affirmative.

4. Breathing: I finish this 38:00 lesson today by exploring breathing as a very powerful tool for creating mindfulness; managing our thoughts intelligently.

I begin with a basic breathing method, and progress to the use of breathing combined with what the Buddhists call “pure thought”. I use breathing and pure thought in meditation myself quite regularly, and find it very helpful.

Remember, many of the most powerful tools we have to keep ourselves healthy are simple tools, and because of that, they are very commonly overlooked or ignored.

Thus it is often said that it takes a wise man to recognize, and teach the simple. As I share in the vblog, it is not an issue of complexity that is important with such techniques, it is an issue of practice!

How To Make Homemade KETCHUP

Today, let my friend Jen Rickards and her puppet, Bumi (means, of the earth) guide you in how to make your own homemade ketchup.

Jen is a very cool, highly intelligent school teacher and chef that makes paleo food snacks for children, and writes children’s books.

I really love what Jen offers the world. If you’d like some awesome ketchup, and enjoy being taught by a cool puppet, check Jen and Bumi out here:

I hope you’ve all enjoyed my blog today.

Make this day a great one!

Love and chi,
