Am I an Influential Person?

Hello from cold and rainy England!
I was pleasantly surprised recently when I got a message from my office informing me that Charles Poliquin had mentioned me in his blog. He stated that he felt I was one of the three most influential people in personal training and gave his reasons why. Charles and I did a fair bit of work together in the mid 90’s and I have continued to recommend his seminars to my students because he’s a master of exercise program design. His blog post has some pretty interesting information in it about influential people and you can view it here:

i really do find your Articles Paul , million miles ahead from the Charles Poliquins`. I am not the type of organizing my workout, my reps etc and i feel very much attracted by revolutionary methods and approaches that free my body and my mind. Of course you are the most influential person i have ever known about Paul!!
These guys agree on more than they disagree it seems. Still, we should put them in the ring and see who wins.
Hi Ross. This was a great moment for CHEK and Poliquin fans. However I’m not sure it’s an olive branch or that one is required. As you state Charles is focussed on conditioning and Paul on wellness and while there is a massive cross-over between the two (I don’t believe Charles can get his athletes so strong without getting them incredible healthy and vice versa) the difference in focus and approach will also lead to differences of opinions. I believe it is up to us as trainers/coaches to put their teachings into context and apply them as suitable for our clients.
I am pleased that Charles Poliquin has taken this step. He leads the way in sports conditioning, Paul Leads the way in corrective exercise and wellness. Hopefully this olive branch can turn into a bridge and there will be less them and us in the fitness industry.
Maybe it’s time to kiss and make up.
