In my 42 years of working with clients and students, one of the major impediments to their growth is a lack of discipline, especially when they are attempting to learn something like Tai Chi or qigong.
Doing the inner work of spiritual development requires commitment and discipline. This is one reason why I give my students a gong and ask them to commit to 100 consecutive days of practice. If they miss a day (even day 99), they must start over.
Both Rudolf Steiner and Osho agree with this kind of commitment. In fact, Osho became so frustrated with students who complained to him about a practice and making a commitment to follow it (even though they weren’t following it). So much so, he made the decision to be silent for one year and only allowed students who could learn from him in silence to stay with him…
If you want to develop a connection to your soul, you must work on it constantly to develop that still place inside yourself. Should you choose the easier, complaining side, you will never have the discipline or courage to listen to your soul because you don’t recognize the difference between voice of your soul versus that of your ego.
I hope this video will inspire you to find the wisdom inside you (it’s there, but you have to look for it) and make a commitment to yourself.
Love and chi,
Paul
