zen In The Garden
Zen In The Garden (ZIG) is a workshop I created five or six years ago due largely to my student’s interest in how I use stonework as part of my athletic, artistic and spiritual development.
I had to keep the groups small, particularly when the burning desire of many of the young guys attending was to build “big stacks” with heavy stones.
Since I first started doing Zen In The Garden workshops, I’ve oriented my ZIG days around key themes.
Some of the themes have been how ZERO creates and IS Every-thing, how to build your own water charger, how to create athleticism through art with nature, and others.
It’s been amazing to see the letters come in over the years, sharing the amazing intuitions, insights and life-changing awareness that have occurred participating in my ZIG workshops, so I have felt inspired to offer them at least once a year.
Vidya has been getting many email requests for another ZIG since the last one, so this year, I chose a theme that has a very high degree of practical application for all aspects of our lives, and allows me to have a few more people so I can meet the demand.
This year, I’m capping registration at 20, and we’ve already filled 11 spots, so if you are interested in learning more about what I’m offering in this special ZIG event, feel free to watch my short video clip, or read the written description below:
Zen In The Garden – Integrating soul, instincts, and the unconscious
May 19, 2017

Investment: $500 per person

Are you ready to learn to use soul guidance and instincts and how to connect to the wisdom of nature (the creative unconscious) so you have a fully functional inner compass?
What would your life be like if you didn’t feel alone and always had the support of your Higher-self and your body, and could read the language of nature, the creative unconscious.
Zen in the Garden with me is a unique offering for participants to learn firsthand how they can create balance, beauty, joy and peace in their lives.
In this unique one-day workshop, I will teach you how to let your soul guide you, access your instincts and connect to the wisdom of nature as you co-create with Her.
Harmonization
The workshop will begin with harmonization exercises to calm and center us individually, and as a group.
From a state of inner-harmony, I will teach you how to access soul guidance so that you can work with your soul in the creation of rock and nature art.
Awakening To Your Current Life Path and Process
Once harmonized, I will guide you through a simple assessment of five archetypal symbols that influence our lives so you can become conscious of:
1. Where you think you are in the flow of your life.
2. What your strengths are.
3. What your current growth process is (what is really going on in your life right now).
4. The underlying incentive that has provoked you to do things differently now.
5. What unfinished business you are ready to resolve and move past.
Creative, Artistic Expression With Stones and Natural Elements
With a connection to your soul and awareness of the archetypal symbols that represent your current life path and process, I will guide you to create your archetypal symbols from stones and elements from the natural landscape at my beautiful Heaven House.
I will also teach you my unique zen approach to creating rock stacks as a means of healthy, athletic fun, outdoor creativity and play.
In this process, you will get to let your soul guide you, and connect to the creative unconscious of nature as a dynamic partner in your creative self-expression with natural elements.
Participants will leave with the joy of knowing how to access their soul (Higher-self), use their instincts, and awareness of how the unconscious within themselves and nature is always seeking mutual support in life.
You will understand the five key archetypal symbols, and how to use them in your life, or in your professional practice as a guide, coach, therapist or physician.
I will show even the most athletic of you how you can get an amazing workout, while at the same time creating beauty outside in nature.
This is your chance to learn simple principles in the garden that apply to the whole of your life.

Show-N-Tell With Paul…The Easter Bunny Visits Mana!
Last Easter, Mana was only two months old, so he didn’t really get to participate very much, but this year, he was ready for the Easter Bunny!
Angie made some lovely Easter eggs with all natural, edible dyes.
She was showing me video clips on the web of how people use shaving cream and colorings to make cool “looking” eggs but, my lord, how toxic would that be.
I suspect many think the shell actually protects the egg from chemicals, but it doesn’t! When we peeled some of the Easter eggs Angie made for Mana, you could see that even the all natural dyes had penetrated the shell, and left some colorful eggs “to eat” inside.
Thank the Great Spirit that my Angie is so health conscious and does a lot of research into how to make fun safe for our precious Mana!
As you can see in the photos above, Mana was fully engaged.
He absolutely loved “the hunt” and “the find!”
What was quite funny is that we did our Easter egg hunt with Mana on Saturday because Angie and Mana were going to visit Grandma and Angie’s family on Sunday for Easter dinner and another egg hunt.
When Angie arrived at Grandma’s house with Mana, she said the first thing he did was start hunting around the house for Easter eggs!
Grandma quickly put out some of the plastic eggs that usually have little trinkets in them, but they were empty (she didn’t expect the early hunt!)!
When Mana found the first one, Angie said he opened it and when he found it was empty, needless to say, he wasn’t impressed with the Easter bunny!
She said he got over it in a couple of minutes, and then hunted for more eggs just for the fun of finding them. They enjoyed having another Easter egg hunt where the Easter Bunny wasn’t sleeping on the job.
Angie and I love to create art in all sorts of different mediums from watercolor, watercolor pens, gel pens, color pencils, pastels and acrylic paint to chalk drawings on the blackboard in the gym.
Mana loves to “participate” when we do art between sets in the gym, but is constantly trying to eat the chalk (as most little ones do).
So we could have some fun with chalk at home this Easter, Angie found some edible, vegetable-based chalk. As you can see above, it works very well. It actually feels just like regular chalk when you use it.
I thought this was an excellent idea. If you have kids and want to have some fun on the sidewalk or driveway “beautifying” with the kids, I highly recommend this vegetable chalk for kids available at Amazon.com
Since Angie and Mana were visiting family on Easter Sunday, and Penny was busy with various tasks, I came up to my office to do some reading, painting and playing with stones.
I created the two stacks you see closest to you in the photo in about 40 minutes, and had an excellent workout. The blackbirds and hawks were showing off their aerial acrobatics and it was just beautiful all around!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog today.
If you feel inspired to join me for a day of Zen In The Garden, don’t wait to register. The workshop is filling up very fast!
I look forward to sharing more with you next week.
Love and chi,
Paul Chek
