C.H.E.K Practitioner Level 3 + Show ‘n’ Tell

I hope you’ve been enjoying my recent vlog series titled Experiencing Real Joy, Parts 1-3 here on my blog or my YouTube channel.

C.H.E.K PRACTITIONER LEVEL 3, San Diego, Now!

The C.H.E.K Practitioner Level 3 class

CHEK Faculty Member Matthew Wallden, DO, ND, CP4, HLC3, is here from London co-teaching C.H.E.K Practitioner Level 3 with me. We have five excellent students who did all of the necessary work to submit case histories demonstrating their mastery of C.H.E.K Exercise Coach and C.H.E.K Practitioner Levels 1 and 2, as well as their ability to integrate my Holistic Lifestyle Coach training skills.

We are having a great time, and it’s great to have Matthew here to fill in the gaps, as my mind has become a little rusty on some of the topics! I turned the job of teaching CP3 over to Matthew six or seven years ago, but thought I’d get back into it again and wanted him here to support me because he’s stays current on the most recent research and techniques.

We are having a great time together, and our students are doing fantastic!

If you would like to learn more about the C.H.E.K Practitioner program, visit the C.H.E.K Institute website where you can read about the experiences of past students, and learn more about the dates and locations of courses around the world in 2017-18.

SHOW-N-TELL

Angie and Mana have really been getting a lot out of their annual pass to LEGOLAND California. Mana LOVES LEGOLAND! He loves the rides, the many activities for kids young and not so young, the water park and the dancing girls!

Angie and Mana fly a plane

Mana rock-climbing

Mana is doing great with his swimming lessons too. He just got promoted to the intermediate level, and we are all excited. He can now jump into the pool himself and swim quite a distance under water. Angie is taking him to a different swimming school where parents are taught how to interact and teach their children to swim, while the instructors are working with kids at the same time. Angie is really loving the experience with Mana.

It is very important to me that Mana learns to swim for a couple reasons. The first one being that my father drowned when I was eight years old, so learning to master the water became very important to me personally. The second is that swimming is an essential survival skill all children should master. Water is part of our lives, so when a person isn’t competent in their ability to swim it causes a lot of fear when they are in boats or even close to it in many instances.

When my father drowned, I made a promise to myself that I’d become proficient in swimming to minimize the chance of another person in my family drowning. Sadly, one of my sister’s sons drowned in her swimming pool when he was only three years old. From my own life experiences, I’ve learned that everyone should learn to swim!

Mike, Matt and I at Heaven House

I got to spend a day with two of my best buddies last Tuesday. Mike Salemi is in town establishing his new online kettlebell training program, so it was fortunate that he was here while Matthew Wallden was here from London.

Matthew and I wanted a day off before we began teaching CP3, which covers a nine-day span. I wanted Matthew and Mike to meet because they are both great guys with a lot of wisdom to share with each other. We have a lovely day hanging out together, listening to great music, drumming, singing and enjoying some of Penny’s amazing food!

The Sun

This is my most recent painting. It was inspired by Tarot Archetype 19: The Sun. It’s not quite done yet, but will be soon. I painted it as a gift for a few lovely friends and will be sending it to them to enjoy soon.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

I’ll be sharing a vlog with you on Monday with tips for keeping the flexor chain flexible so you have better posture, energy, emotional balance and athletic performance.

I look forward to seeing you then!

Love and chi,

Paul Chek
